A Glimpse Of LET’S GET SOCIAL, The Gala Evening Silver Talkies Presented For The Rocking Seenagers

From senior dudes and divas rocking the ramp to active senior achievers sharing their awe-inspiring experiences and a musical performance by vibrant young musicians for young-at-heart older adults, Silver Talkies celebrated active ageing with ‘Let’s Get Social,’ at Bangalore International Centre on November 5.

The evening was full of surprises with young-spirited ‘seenagers’ setting the ramp on fire and twirling to some foot-tapping music. Come and experience the magic created on November 5 evening by our silver rockstars.

The heart-melting show witnessed the enthralling experience of around 200 youthful seniors cheering to their evergreen buddies setting the stage on fire . It was the most happening event in the garden city on November 5.

The gala evening kicked-off with ‘Dancing off those years’, a line dance performance by Silver Talkies’ Socialites led by ace senior dancer, Valentine Ward. In their vibrant costumes and flexible twists and turns, our silver dancers showed #agenobar in action.

A big round of applause for Valentine Ward, 76, who teaches ballroom dancing in Bangalore and has been the man behind teaching many couples their first dance for the wedding day. We thank him for teaching our silver members the magic to win over hearts through their steps.

The panel discussion on active ageing practices, the most affordable and effective form of preventive healthcare was the informative part of the event. Our eminent panellists included Dr Dominic Benjamin, Geriatrician, Bangalore Baptist Hospital; Dr Sowmya Hegde, Geriatric Psychiatrist; Mr. Basav Mukherjee, Chief Revenue Officer, Columbia Pacific Communities and Mrs Sharada Venkatraman, senior marathoner, yoga expert.

Our panelists threw light on various aspects of active ageing and how it can be the apple a day therapy to keep ageing at bay.

The auditorium cheered to Silver Showcase, a dazzling fashion show by the 60+ super enthusiastic models from our social-engagement clubs – Silver Talkies Social and Silver Talkies Adda, flaunting dresses by Timri, choreographed by Reshma Sachdev Rajpal and styled by Aparna Viplov Rao. Our senior rockstars simply killed the ethnic round in these unique saree draping styles.

The cool dudes and the hot divas set the ramp on fire with their swags in Western attire.

The participants received high five from the super enthusiastic audience after the fashion show.

The event concluded with an eclectic musical performance by the Thayir Sadam Project, the extremely talented and humble Bindu Subramaniam, Ambi Subramaniam and Mahesh Raghavan. The trio played an experimental blend of Digital and Electronic Music which adds a technological twist to the traditional genre. The audience went back with loads of happiness and fond memories.
